Madison East high school seniors Boubacar Sangare and Raya Jordan Ronaghy are the winners of the PRL Keystone Foundation’s scholarships, the organization announced on Thursday.

“These are two amazing young people with limitless potential. I am beyond excited to be able to present them with this scholarship, they worked hard both in their school and community,” said Becky Steinhoff, executive director of PRL Keystone Foundation, in a statement. “Moving forward, PRL Scholar program will open the doors to higher education for many students who face barriers to education and maybe didn’t even see themselves as attending college. Most youths have such incredible potential if given the right support and opportunities.”

The PRL Keystone Foundation scholarships include four years of tuition, room and board, technology needs and a monthly living stipend.

Boubacar (nicknamed Abou) has chosen Edgewood College and is interested in a degree in psychology and counseling, according to a press release from the foundation. Raya is tentatively scheduled to attend the UW-Madison, but is on the waitlist at the University of Chicago and is interested in technology computer programming.

Both Abou and Raya are graduating from East High School this year and attend programming at the Goodman Community Center.

“We are so proud of these two Goodman youth,” said Letesha Nelson, Goodman Center CEO, in a statement. “And we’re thrilled to partner with PRL Keystone Foundation to bring this incredible program to students in our east-side community.”

PRL is devoted to partnering and collaborating with their communities “to ensure, self-determined futures for women and children, especially those who face barriers to quality healthcare, education and economic justice.”
